Day 80. Wirriwin rest area, NSW

Wednesday 4.5.22

Another chilly morning, 3.6° feels like 1.1° at 6.20am, when I went for a short wander.

Lake George and the wind farm behind it.

Woke to find someone had pulled in behind us.

Our plan for today is to head to Nerriga and then on to Nowra, Berry and towards Wollongong. Apparently it's windy but not as steep as other roads.

The roads were very poor, with multitudes of surface damage and potholes. The scenery was quite spectacular.

First stop was at Nerriga for coffee at the pub!

Property for sale if anyone is interested 😊

Crawling up a hill behind a log truck at 23km/hr.

Nowra showgrounds was closed due to a music festival this weekend. They generously allowed us to use their dump point. The town was packed. We couldn't see a parking spot so we drove on.
Back on the road to Berry, which apparently is also booked out due to the festival and extremely busy too.
We had a quick wander through the main St.

The information centre was just a few brochures outside the music shop. We were hoping for a walking/heritage type map. The man in the music shop wasn't interested in talking to us so we left Berry.
We have pulled up at the Wirriwin rest area, beside the hwy, for the night. It's about 30kms south of Wollongong.

Today we had to refuel the cruiser as both tanks were almost empty. It took 182.7L @$1.839(diesel has dropped a little) =$336. Considering we filled up 2 weeks ago and if we were to go straight home we wouldn't need to fill up again, we're pretty happy with that.

Yay, we are back on the coast and heading north towards the sunshine.

Boo, we're only ~1,300kms from home.

Today we travelled 216kms, taking our total hitched to just over 4,600kms. The temperature at 6pm is a beautiful 19°.

There's been a few showers around from early evening. I just read that snow is predicted for near here in the next few days and more rain as we head north 😳.
