Day 71. Benalla, Victoria.

Monday 25.4.22

We were packed up and ready to depart at 10am. Our winter sheets were warm and snug last night.

We thank Kim and Dean, Jessica and Thomas for having us and being wonderful chauffeurs. 💕💕

We drove 142kms to the Benalla showgrounds and will stay 2 nights. The weather is beautiful and we are back in our shorts and tshirts.

Went for a 5.5km walk in the sunshine exploring the botanical gardens, war memorial and art gallery. **warning lots of flower and war memorial photos seeing it's ANZACday**

Showgrounds

Lake Benalla

Ceramic mural.

Art gallery. Unfortunately I only had my sunglasses so I didn't really enjoy the exhibition as the gallery rooms were already dark.

Artist Will Longstaff, 1879-1953.

'Exploring the lesser known history of Australia's first African settlers in photographic stills'

We didn't make it to the ANZAC parade this year but I did reflect and say thank you at this memorial.

Poppies on crosses was quite moving.

Camped beside a church that I hope to check out tomorrow.  I love looking at old buildings and churches.
We have changed our plans yet again. We've decided not to do Mt Kosciuszko and go to Canberra instead. Benalla will be our last stop in Victoria on this journey. We will definitely be back again and see the south east of the state. We have done lots of the centre of the picture below on previous trips.
Our total travelled hitched is 3895 kms.
